Cinemalaya 2012

So, the Cinemalaya Week is coming up and I am beyond excited.  I have watched the Cinemalaya series since 2008 movies year after year get better!  Anywaaay, this year will be no different as I will be watching a handful of movies for this year's Independent Film Festival.  So I'll be listing the movies I'm most excited to watch :>  List is based on the chronological order of how I'm going to watch them

1. Ang Nawawala by Marie Jamora

So I'll be watching this film on Moday (July 23) and it will be the first that I am going to watch for the Cinemalaya Week.  I was really intrigued with it when I watched the trailer and when I read the synopsis.  I am most excited of the fact that it is set against the backdrop of the local party and music scene.  PLUS: A good soundtrack! Indie + Alternative music involved=I am SOLD

2. Sta. Nina by Emmanuel Q. Palo

I'll be watching this on its Gala Night on Tuesday, July 24.  Actually, we're watching on its Gala night because my friend has a massive crush on Coco Martin and she wants to see him.  Oh well, it's actually not a problem for me.  Again, the trailer + the synopsis seemed interesting.  Hihihihi.  PLUS: it stars Coco Martin and Alessandra de Rossi.  They are both such great actors and they have starred in many other GREAT Indie films :)

3. Bwakaw by Jun Robles Lana

Omg guys, don't laugh but I actually cried when I watched the trailer for Bwakaw.  I don't even know why but it just broke my heart.  Gaaaah, I'm just so sure one or the other will die.  Animals and old people and children are my soft spot.  Actually, I cry with everything so I don't even know how I can say that's my soft side.  Anyway, this is actually my priority because idk, I am in love with Eddie Garcia.  He's always so amazing.  I love this movie already.

4. The Animals by Gino Santos

No, I am not watching this because of Albie Casino, why does everyone think that?  I'm really intrigued of how they will portray the growing party scene of teenagers in the Philippines.  I also think I'll see a lot of parallelism in the movie and people I know in real life. Hmmm? ;) Don't worry, not necessarily with me though.  Hahahaha.  But yeah, it seemed really nice in the trailer.  PLUS: it's a little bit more "scandalous" (hopefully) than most Filipino Teen movies. Hahaha.  It reminded me a little bit of Skins when I watched the trailer, but hopefully not a rip-off.

Not included in the Cinemalaya line-up (but originally was) is MNL 143

I was wondering why it wasn't in the line-up but I decided that it looks amazing and I should watch it, whatever happens!  And I just found out that's there's this whole controversy about it.  Tsssk, gaaah.  Another post for that, don't worry. :>  This looks good, pa naman. Sayang :| Le sigh.

Well, that's it.   Oh, plus I'll be watching shorts, hihihihi.  I am so excited.  I'll be watching with some community friends on some dates and some college friends on others.  Grr, so excited!  Fast forward to next week, please!

PS: I just did this because I need to study for Lab and I don't want to.
