Another Epic Friday

Yesterday was a really epic Friday! Yes, I do get the redundancy from the title but whatever. The amount of epic Fridays that I have had early in the year makes me love and anticipate Fridays more and more every week. 2012 is being nice.

Sooo, yesterday, we were required to watch a play about Ibong Adarna for Hum. We had to wait eight hours because our classes ended at 11:30 and the play started at 7:00. EIGHT fucking hours for a play which was, sad to say, mediocre. Well, it was only a class play, so what could you expect, right? Script was nice, props were horrible, actors were okay-only some were impressive.

EIGHT HOURS. We had lunch at Robinsons which probably took about an hour and a half of our time so we had 6.5 hours left to spare. And you could just feel the intense heat in that 6 hours, my god. It was sooo hot that you'd think it was in the middle of summer or so. Jessica, Ancie and myself hung around the DBS corridor while Lee and Bia researched in the library. By hung around I meant-sitting by the very corner of the corridor, playing Pusoy Dos countless of times while complaining about the heat and watching Election candidates pass by every 30 minutes or so.

Oh yeah, it's the election season in UP Manila, and all you could probably hear University-wide are issues involving the candidates running for that certain position or the latest UP Brickwall or UP Heckler post. Yes, we were one of those chismosas who liked to talk about the candidates and their said issues-deciding which people would be suitable for the electoral positions. Or you know, maybe we just really wanted to know the latest issues and all.

Because we played cards for a really long time one of our professors (Sir Ong), decided to point it out when he walked by. He reminded us of the time we should leave on Sunday for the field trip and went back just to say "Ayan, ang mga natutunan niyo sa mga Kastila-magsugal, sigee" HAHAHAA.

Anywaaay, we played Pusoy Dos and talked about the elections and whatnot for the remaining 6 hours-some eating were done in between games too :)) Lee and Bia joined in at about 3:30 in the afternoon and we switched places with whoever lost, blah and blah. And this cycle went on until about 5 or 6. Mel joined us at around that time too.

Around that time, RP Narvaez, someone running independently for USC councilor approached us and talked to us. He knew Lee so, yeah. Anyway, he joined in the fun and played Pusoy Dos with us with the fake bet that if he wins over Jessica (who was the Queen of Pusoy Dos at that time), he gets her vote or our vote. And we joked that he tell us his platforms and modes of action while playing the game. It was so much fun. Kuya RP was fun to be with and he knew how to interact with people well. He was sooo game in whatever it is that we said. Awesome. Mary-the Master of the Queen, joined in the pseudo gambling session.

We played Bluff and Pusoy Dos with him but he ultimately lost to Jessica (hahaha). While we were playing with Kuya RP, Jason Alacapa, who was running for USC chairperson approached our group and shook hands with Kuya RP because they were fraternity brothers and moved on to shaking our hands. I honestly hate hand shake campaigns. It always seems so fake for me. We

Anyway, before Kuya Jason could even finish shaking everyone's hand in our group, the whole BIGKIS slate appeared out of nowhere and everyone from the said slate started shaking our hands too. Whoah, who were we? An independent candidate and the whole BIGKIS slate hovering over us and our gambling game. To top it all of, the slate of ASAP-KATIPUNAN was in the same floor. The atmosphere was intense, I tell you. We could feel the heat between the rival political parties from one end of the corridor to another. Meeep. One of the most awkward situations of our life, right there.

After people from BIGKIS, shook our hands, people from ASAP took their turn on us and introduced themselves one by one. This was so funny for us because, well, as said above, who were we? It felt like we were being clamored by the two powerful political parties in UPM + an independent candidate and we were virtually no one. Couldn't have they left us to our gambling game in peace? We admit though, it felt kind of nice. But, it was so obvious that we were just instruments in their heated political argument/war/whatever you want to call it. Le siiigghhh.

After the whole ASAP-BIGKIS-INDEPENDENT incident, we went back to our Pusoy Dos (yes, we are somewhat hardcore gamblers)-this time though, we played with two decks of cards. :)) This went on for a while and at about 6:30 we started to pack up to go to the play.

The play was okay. It was okay, considering that it was done by students but of course, the story line was predictable. Although I liked the comedic parts because they proved to be effective and all. The guy who played "Tuko", I failed to remember his name, did it all. He was the overall guy of the play :)))

The play finished at about 9:00. It's a good thing Bia offered me a ride home. It was a looong day and I was too tired to blog about it yesterday :O This Friday was different-in a good way. I think? If you didn't enjoy the story, then I must say, it's one of those, you should've been there momentsss. :))

Of gambling, political parties and cliche story lines.
